They tell him to follow up in the orthopedic clinic, which is exactly what he does. Over the next seven weeks he is told that the bone is healing properly. When the cast is removed, the patient can't believe his eyes. His arm looks like a roller coaster. He asked the doctor What is wrong with my arm? The doctor said Not to worry, with a little bit of physical therapy and massage this will go away. It turns out when the patient had his cast put on, his broken bone was never put back into place (this is known as reducing the fracture) and properly aligned. Because of that, his arm was allowed to heal in an incorrect position. Two months after his injury, he was told he needed to have surgery to break the bone again and to connect the bones using titanium rods and screws.
